I have a big sense of relief since doing the presentations yesterday. when was younger i did drama class and did speech and drama exams where you had to read a poem, do a talk about your chosen topic, and play a role in short performance with 3 other people. I don't ever remember it being as nerve racking as it is the older i get. i remember rehearsing a lot more before though. anyway glad it's done. it really helped me to collect my thoughts about the direction my work is heading and my artistic influences.
last week i started to look at victorian paper theatres. I didn't seem to find many good examples when i googled it. so, i looked through amazon and found the pantomime paper theatre above. it arrived un-constructed, flat in a book, where each piece had been die cut from card to make each page. it took maybe 30 minutes to put together and is very sturdy. the characters can be moved across the stage with pieces of card that slot into the 3 sections of the theatre floor.......you can download the same theatre at http://www.vam.ac.uk/moc/kids/things_to_make/toy_theatre/index.html
this is part of the v and a museum and has lots of downloadable toy constructions to make. paper silhouette pictures, jumping jacks, thaumatropes, paper dolls, tumbling acrobat.............
