like mind mapping, Takashi Iwasaki's embroideries are explorations of thoughts that flow to different ideas through mark making. The bright colours and the gradual shading using machine embroidery remind me of felt tip pens. Her embroidery is work similar to her painting style but more controlled. her paintings explore the lucidity of the medium with dips and washes. The paintings remind me of jean michel basquiat's work. her collage work at the top of this post, somehow reming me of the 50's style shapes of cars and buildings. i have included alot of examples here but you can see more at http://www.takashiiwasaki.info/index.html
